You probably all think I have forgotten about this website and blog and hell maybe even my snakes but non are the case. I have been on top of the snake business but I haven't had a second to take photos or post what's been going on. I have been working non-stop at Disneyland but as soon as summer is over things should slow down a bit again. The first clutch did hatch and they are all healthy. I got 1.1 Normals and 1.2 Mojaves. I haven't had a chance to take the photos of them I would like but I will have some soon! I'll actually be posting them on the available page soon!

On another note... there is a Reptile Show this weekend in Pomona! I am going to be there just hanging out and scoping it out! If your there look for me and say hi! I'll be roaming around!

It seems like it has been such a tremendously long time since I have wrote a blog. A whole lot has been keeping me away from blogging or posting anything for that matter. It is... drumroll please.... I GOT A JOB!! Yes that's right. I have been working like mad at Disneyland. The happiest place on earth. I love working there and it has been a ton of fun. The only downside is I have not had much time for myself. I havent had much time to spend with the snakes or my photography. You may have noticed that the LK Imagery site is not up and running yet like I said, it's because I have been so busy I haven't had time to work on it. It will be coming in time, I just haven't really been able to get to it.

On a side not the snakes are looking great, I am still waiting for my second clutch that should be on the ground very soon. I cannot wait til I see little eggies hatching!

On a second side note since LK Imagery website is not up and running I will still post photo related blogs here for those of you who may be interested. Well I LOVE Disneyland, and yes, on my days off i occasionally go and enjoy the park with my girlfriend. I decided to take my camera on this trip and I decided that I am going to try and take some photos of things people overlook or dont really notice cuz they don't have the time in their day at Disney to see every detail in the park.

Here are the first two which I shot today. This first one was taken at Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage. It was taken off the Monorail line. The way I processed this photo reminds me of old and new. the dark sepia looking tons remind me of the past and the submarine voyage that was there and the bright yellows remind me of the new and how the parks constantly changing.

This next one was shot on the front right of the Castle. This stone owl sits there and most people probably don't even notice it. I fell in love with this shot and how well it actually came out.

Most of us pet owners in the world love our animals unconditionally. It is always hard when we have to say goodbye to a family pet and this time is no different... Many of you who know me know that I had an awesome St. Bernard named Polly. She was such a great dog. Over the last year or so she has been deteriorating in health and we knew her time with us would not be much longer. Generally big dog's do not live as long as she did but we took great care of her she made it 11 amazing years with our family. Last night she had fallen and she was having a really hard time breathing. We decided to take her to the emergency vet and they had advised us that she was not doing well. After talking it over we decided that it would be best for her to be at peace. I have had a few pets over the years that we had passed and none of them had been this hard. This dog grew up with me all through high school. We rescued her from the pound from an abusive home. She was the best dog I had ever have the pleasure of knowing. We were blessed to have her here with us as long as we did. RIP Polly. I'll never forget you

School has had me crazy busy. I am out almost every day shooting photos for class then heading into the dark room to develop and print out the photos. I really want to get some good scans of them to put up on the blog and the website but I haven't had a chance to get it done. They are coming though. Don't you worry!!

In other news that is more snake related and kinda ties the post in with the real seriousness I have to address. Breeding has been going on. I keep seeing locks from my Mojo boy and my girls. He's the only one thats done anything this season with the girls. I gave up on my spider male even locking and am hoping I get lots of mojos!!

Well anyways, seriousness time for reals. It seems like over the last year the country has been coming down really hard on exotic pet owners. From Reptile owners to fish owners. Anything considered exotic is under attack yet again but this time it is more local and will have a HUGE effect on anyone who lives in LA County. If this were enacted it would do the following:

1. Cages would not be allowed to be stacked.

2. 24/7 staffing if have more than 50 animals in the facility. If less than 50 animals, you must have adequate staffing for at least 8 hours a day. If you have more than 50 fish, reptiles, birds, etc., or any combination thereof, you must staff the facility 24/7.

3. Records must be kept on each "Animal". "Animals" defined in Section 10.08.020 any animal, bird, reptile or fish.

4. Proprietary business information will be available to the public (that could mean Animal Rights groups).

5. The Department may also impose “reasonable conditions” on a breeding license for any non dog or cat breeder.

Now you can understand the importance of doing something and standing up to this. If this were to be in effect in LA there is no telling how long it would take to get enacted everywhere else in United States. This would cause many small in home breeders to shut down or cut way back on their animals. Please take action and take a couple minutes to fill out a form on USARK's website. http://usark.org/campaign.php?id=14

Whenever I get down time in between shoots and snake business I try to go back and just practice and better tune my skills at processing an image. This time I decided to go back to a shoot I did a while ago with some friends of mine who happen to be aspiring photographers as well. One of them, Nick set up this shoot with a really nice couple names Jorge and Gail. After some deliberation Nick decided to setup the shoot at this really nice park in Brea and I cannot wait to shoot there again! You may notice that these photos may be a touch out of focus, let me explain... I purchased a lens right before this shoot that is only manual focus and boy did I suck with manual focus when I first started. Either way I was happy with some of them and decided to re-process anyways. Enjoy.

When we first got to the park we came across this cool little walk way next to a small creek and decided it would be a great place to start!
<img src="http://i879.photobucket.com/albums/ab357/LK_Imagery/DSC_4672.jpg" alt="Photobucket" style="border-top-width: 0px; Those of you who know me personally or have hung out with me may know that I am a HUGE fan of a local radio show here in the LA area called Frosty Heidi and Frank. This radio show has been on for quite some time and I have been a fan for just as long. They are an outrageously funny trio who have a show in the mornings from 9:00AM - 12:00PM. They sometimes do live shows throughout Southern California and I have never been able to attend one. Throughout their entire show history I have never been able to attend a live show because I always had work or school. Well last Friday morning they did a live event at the Hooter's in Lake Forest and I was able to go with my friends Rich and Ramon who also happen to be fans of the show.

This was what I saw when I first arrived at Hooters. This was the booth set up to hand out swag and greet people as they went in.

Rich, Ramon and I decided that It was not too early to have a few beers!

Frosty, Heidi and Frank finally took their seats at the table and started the show and as you can tell they didn't skimp out on the drinks either, which they never do!

During commercial breaks they walked out into the crowed and took pics and signed autographs. All of my sessions since I have started have all been engagement sessions but one. Now I can change that and make it two. I made a friend over on a wonderful website called Model Mayhem, which is a website for model. photographer, make up artists and studios to connect and make business happen. I created one to meet some great people who were looking to build their portfolio. Within a week of joining I was contacted by a really cool girl named Stephanie. She mentioned to me that she has done some photo shoots in the past and is looking to do some more. We discussed ideas and finally settled on the Seal Beach Pier. It was a bit cold so she came prepared in some wintery clothes. It turned out very well and she was a blast to shoot with!

We decided to head under the pier at first, It was a bit chilly under there so we wanted to get them out of the way!

After we shot some under the pier we decided to head over to this cool rock jetty. We have been getting back to back storms with a TON of rainfall. Now those of you form other states that get a ton of rain are probably thinking who gives a shit if it rains, that happens here all the time. Well here in Southern California it rarely happens, and what makes it an even crazier storm here is that we had tornado warnings! At first the news was saying it may happen then they went on the air and said it was going to happen. So Jasmin and I sat at home watching the news and hoping nothing would whisk us away to Kansas. While watching the news the sky started to clear up a tad so we decided to head out but on our way out the door we heard that there was a tornado that had touched down about 10 minutes from our house. So I packed up the cameras and we headed out. First we headed down the street to check out how sever the flooding was. The water was really high, completely covering the curb actually.

This truck just plowed through the water like he was all bad ass and stuff!

After we went to check out the street flooding we headed down to Seal Beach Pier to see what was going on down there. This camera works with all my current lenses and vice versa. It is great that I can now juggle 3 lenses on 2 different cameras. This is number 2 of 3 that I have waiting to go up. The Pomona Reptile Super Show was this past weekend and it was a good time. We saw a bunch of old friends and made some new ones. It is always a great time at reptile shows. I love being able to walk around the show and checking out all the animals that people have brought to show off or sell. It seemed like this show just had a bunch of supplies and not a whole lot of animals but I did take photos of what I could! Enjoy!

And to end a great day at the show, A Midori Martini made by Bartender Joel

All in all it was a good show. As many of you know Jasmin(My Girlfriend) and I have been unemployed for a while trying our hardest to find work. It has been a really tough time the past year trying to manage and build personal business and pay bills. That is all about to change for one of us at least, Jasmin has a job now. She is doing something that she wants to do when she graduates school. She works at a nursing home, caring for and watching over the elderly. She just started on Wednesday and is loving it so far. She is actually going to school to become a nurse, this just puts her one step closer! She really couldn't be happier about it, and I am pretty happy about it too. I have to admit, the first day of her working a 12 hour day drove me a bit crazy. I didn't have much to do but sit home and wait. Oh well though, It gives me a chance to tend to the animals more and work on photography stuff.

Speaking of photography stuff, I registered for school and start this coming Monday. My first class will be an introduction to Black and White photography. I was a little weary about this at first because I am not a big fan of black and white photos. I know that just because I don't like them doesn't mean a client won't like them and want some shots in black and white. I learned this the hard way this past weekend when I did a shoot and the client wanted some black and whites. I was not particularly happy with the shots that I had taken in black and white but i turned them over to the client anyways. I hope this class will better help me appreciate the art of black and white photography and give me some better techniques to apply it to my own photography. We will see how it goes, maybe the blog will have a black and white picture mixed in from time to time.

This weekend is also a pretty big deal, it is the Reptile Super Show in Pasadena. We are going to be there as always! Some friends of ours are driving in from out of town to hang out and go to the show, They don't get to head out this way much so were pretty excited to see them. As always I will have my camera in tow and hopefully get some good photos for the blog. I know I say I'll post after the show and what not but I never do so this time I am not even going to say I will. It just gets too hard while trying to hang out and mingle! We shall be back on Monday or Tuesday with a full recap of the show!

P.S... I have promised the Rose Parade photos but haven't had a free moment to sort through them. They are coming... I promise! :)

I have not had the time. We have been so busy with holiday festivities! We are gearing up this week to head to Pasadena for the Rose Parade. Were going out there on Friday and spending the night out there to watch the parade in the morning. I used to do it when I was a kid all the time and decided it was time to do it again! We are crazy excited to go out and hang out. It should be a blast, it always was when I was a kid!

I will have my camera all night and day, there should be a MAJOR blog post after the rose parade at some point, most likely after a day of recuperating from staying up all night and freezing our asses off. I will be tweeting the whole night though if your interested in our going ons while there.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!! Thanks for reading for almost a year now, I will keep on posting if you keep on reading!

I am getting much more interested in shooting people and it is taking away my focus of loving photography. Not that I don't love taking photos, I just have been focusing on building my career as a photographer and not just taking photos for me. I heard about this 365 project, it is a really cool concept and I can't wait to get going with it and see what it becomes. The idea is that I take a photo every day for 365 days and put them up on flickr. The photos can be of anything I want, I just have to post them one a day. I am hoping that I stick with it and get some cool photos. It will be nice to see how my photos look at the end of the year. I will try to post some of them here if not all of them but if I fail to do so you can see them on my flickr at www.flickr.com/kesslerskreatures

This is my first photo, I decided to take a photo of the snakes and my business card because it shows my photography hobby and my snake hobby.

It has flown by so fast, I really hope the rest of my schooling goes by this fast! I have already taken one final for my English class and I have another one on the 17th of December. I also have a math final coming up on Monday. I cannot wait to be out of school for a few weeks. It will be nice to get ready for the holidays with friends and family. I will be back to my regular scheduled blogging once school is out. I leave you all with a couple questions, What are you all doing for the holidays? Have any good family traditions? We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with Jasmin's family up in Phelan. We ate a ton of Turkey, Stuffing and all the fixins. We made a ton of tamales the entire time we were out there, that is pretty much ALL we did the days leading up to Thanksgiving day. It was really fun learning how to make them from start to finish, I can now appreciate all the hard work that goes into making them and understand why they are only made once a year! We ended up leaving around 10:00 at night and heading out to Heather's house for Black Friday festivities! We went to Wal-mart to partake in the craziness that is Black Friday and boy was it CRAZY! I have always heard stories about how incredibly insane things were but I did not fully understand until I had lived it myself. We arrived at Wal-mart around 11:30 PM and waiting it out until we were allowed to purchase items that were on sale. We were not allowed to even touch anything until they announced over the loud speaker at 5 in the morning that shopping was now allowed. There were hordes of people pushing and shoving trying to get to the items they wanted. Come 5 O' clock all hell broke loose! There was a ton of pushing and shoving going on and people snatching their wanted items left and right! It was really unlike any shopping experience I have ever had before. We did get all of the items that we went there for, I bought Jasmin a TomTom GPS, she has been wanting one! I also picked up a couple movies and a timer for the Chameleon lights! After we got home on Friday we slept for about 3 hours and woke up to spend a Post Thanksgiving day with my family. My aunt and my cousins came out and we had a complete feast! It was delicious! I have had a ton of turkey over the course of two days! Saturday was a 3rd Thanksgiving! We spent the afternoon/evening with Heather and Joel. We didn't have Turkey though, Heather and Joel each made their own pork tenderloin! It was like we were on Iron Chef! We were able to try both and enjoy both of their styles of cooking! It was a rather fun night! That is our Thanksgiving week/weekend!

Another reason this blog has been a little neglected is because school is almost over! The first semester is coming to a close, we only have 2 weeks left of school and our teachers are packing on the work! We have been so busy with homework! I do not know how we would be able to manage if we had full time jobs! I for one can not wait til the semester is over so I can focus on doing some more photography gigs and posting more here! I feel so bad for neglecting my readers! Speaking of... I want to thank you all who read my blog! I know it is not much but I have a blast posting up for everyone to read. My reader base has been growing too! Thank you all and keep reading! Tell your friends too!

For one last note... Snake Sex has begun! It is now that time of year! I have begun pairing and have seen a couple locks! The males are actually on break right now but next time I pair I will take some photos!

Have a great week!

I love this time of year, nothing beats spending time with family, friends and eating great food! Were going to be spending a majority of this week with Jasmin's family, It has been a while since we have hung out with her Grandma and the rest of her family. Were out in Phelan right now actually, I am blogging from the kitchen table staring out at the pitch black night. I love it out here, we go outside late at night and we can see the stars so well. It is absolutely breathtaking how beautiful the sky is at night when you don't have the city lights ruining it. I am actually going to try and take some long exposure shots of the sky and see what I can come up with, maybe even get some shooting stars. I have see quite a few while out here. After Thanksgiving on Thursday we are going to head back down to home. Were going to stop at Heather's and hit up that black Friday sales with her! It should be a crazy morning, I have never been shopping on black Friday! Once we get all the shopping our of our system we are going to head home to Long Beach to spend the day with my family. We are going to do the day after Thanksgiving feast. I can't wait, it is going to be a good time all week. Then the weekend will be just as fun but I will get into that later on!

This past week I mentioned a mock E-Session I was going to do with Heather and Joel. I was supposed to post some photos from the shoot but I never got around to it because we left for Phelan earlier than we had planned. I don't have all the photos from the shoot with me right now because I transferred them to my external hard drive before we left. I didn't think we were going to have the internet up here so I did not prepare photos for bloggity blog. I do however have a couple pics that I had already watermarked and are ready for posting! I hope you enjoy! Thanks again Heather and Joel for letting me continuously shoot you!

I have a few things planned for the weekend that should make for interesting blog material come Monday. Friday we are going out to Jammin's Mom's house, We haven't been out there in a while and shes going to be making some amazing Mexican food. Can't beat that right? I am actually going to be taking some candid photos out there for a top secret special thing I suggested to Jammin and she is all for it. More to come on that later though once were all done with it!

Saturday should be a great day. Were going to do another photoshoot with Heather and Joel. I am really excited for this, I am going to take them to that place I mentioned a couple posts ago. We are going to get some cool shots, at least that is the plan. We may shoot some other places locally but that is the main focus of the day. I hope I get some beautiful photos of the two of them, They make our photoshoots a great time. Heather and Joel have been amazingly supportive of my photography by
letting me take photos of them. I really do appreciate it guys! Come back next week for a little recap of our shoot! After the shoot we are going to try to find a local place that will be showing UFC fight. We hope we can find somewhere, so if any of you know where we can catch it let me know in a comment!

Sunday I am not really sure what we are doing, I will find something to take photos of or do. It may end up just being a around the house and relax day. It will give me time to process the photos from the weekend and catch up on all my DVR'ed tv shows! I hope you all have a great weekend and I will try to update if possible. If not... talk to you Monday!!
I promise! I have been working on my English essay that was due today. My essay was a rather interesting one, We had to chose an issue that not many people know about and write our opinion about it. I was actually very quick to come up with my topic, I chose to write about the ban on boas and pythons. HR2811 is a big deal to keepers of these types of snakes and it would affect me and I felt it should be brought to more peoples attention. I was really happy with the way my paper turned out. I feel like I was able to get my point across.

When we turned in our paper we had to give a 5 minute presentation to our fellow classmates and teacher. At first I was a little apprehensive about this because I wasn't sure how to drag out a 4 page paper into 5 minutes. I then had a brilliant idea, I took a few of my animals for a little show and tell type thing. I used my animals to show the morphs and the color variations that can occur. I made it a point to say that if importing was to cease then there would never be a new color morph that was imported. My class seemed rather interested in the whole presentation. I had a few questions about the animals, Over all I feel that the presentation went pretty good!

There is not much else going on this week, I have a little bit of a lull in photoshoots and snake business. So to keep my photography going I am going to go back and revisit some old photos, Maybe process them differently or just see what I could of done differently. I need to buckle down and stay focused!

This place is going to be a GREAT place to do some photo shoots, and what makes it better is that it is so close to home. This is the El Dorado Nature Center. Jasmin and I have heard much about it but never took the time to go check it out. We decided Saturday would be the day we went to explore the city we live in. We have been out here for about 7 months now and we still are learning our way around and what places are local. I am constantly looking for photo shoot locations too so this was a trip with 2 goals. I managed to snap a few pics while walking around, The feel there is amazing, You would never guess that this place is in a city. It feels like we were hiking up in the mountains. They have a few trails, a couple lakes and enough trees to make you feel like your in the movie the Blair Witch Project!

Enjoy the pics!

This Squirrel ran right up to us, He was not afraid at all, I guess all the people that trek through his home have made him used to the intruders.
